With a provision for expansion of the Mohabbewala industrial area, the Uttarakhand government has proposed the development of two industrial areas in Dehra Dun’s new master plan.
The two new industrial areas — one proposed at Kuanwala and the other in Raipur-Sahasradhara area — would be pollution-free. But experts said the Kuanwala area is already being used by the industrial units and there is no scope for the expansion of the Mohabbewala industrial area due to land constraint. The master plan proposes extra land for the Mohabbewala industrial area in the city.
Pankaj Gupta, president, Industries Association of Uttarakhand, said he would first study industrial provisions in the master plan. He added the government should have considered developing new green industries in the eco-sensitive Doon valley to generate more avenues for employment.
