Unichem Q4 net profit up 101%

Unichem Laboratories has posted 100.59 per cent growth in net profit for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2006 at Rs 13.54 crore compared with Rs 6.75 crore of the corresponding period in the previous year.

The company's sales stood at Rs 105.77 crore, up by 43.3 per cent compared with Rs 73.95 crore for the year-ago period.

Net profit for the full year jumped by 81.53 per cent to Rs 81.85 crore from Rs 45.09 crore the year earlier. Sales during the year stood at Rs 455.75 crore compared with Rs 393.46 crore in the previous year "� up 15.83 per cent.

Unichem's UK arm, Niche Generics, recorded sales worth £12.23 million in 2005-06 compared with £23.27 million during the previous year.

Unichem's total income for the year registered a growth of 13.44 per cent to Rs 459.96 crore as against Rs 405.45 crore in 2004-05.

This translates to annualise earning per share of Rs 22.72 in FY06 as against Rs 13.20 in the FY05.
