Company is also targetting 100% increase in internet revenue during the period

BS Reporter Lucknow
Private Global System for Mobile (GSM) operator, Uninor, is targetting double active internet users in Uttar Pradesh (East) circle in 2014.

It is also targetting a 100 per cent increase in internet revenue during the period.

Changing its strategy, the company has now decided to shift from volume-based internet offerings (based on MB and GB) to service-based internet offerings (Facebook and Whatsapp).

In this regard, Uninor announced the launch of unlimited Facebook packs starting 50 paisa an hour and unlimited Whatsapp access starting Rs 1 a day.

“Over 22 per cent of our subscribers in the circle are already active data users. Further, active Facebook and Whatsapp users on mobile are 12 per cent of the total subscriber base. This shows 50 per cent of data customers are users of Facebok and Whatsapp,” Circle Business Head, Upanga Dutta, said.
