Norwegian telecom major Telenor controlled Uninor, on Tuesday reported a sequential quarter-on-quarter growth of 13.2% in revenues for the quarter ended 31 December 2013.
For the full quarter, the company has said that it has reduced EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) loss of Rs 55.6 crore, excluding the special bonus payout, about 79% reduction as compared with the EBITDA loss of the same quarter in 2012.
Its operating loss stood at Rs 132 crore in the fourth quarter ended December 31, 2013 as compared to Rs 444 crore in the same period a year ago.
“In the fourth quarter, we have seen solid intake of consumers. ARPU increased for the fifth quarter in a row and reached Rs 106, up by 17% compared to same period in 2012,” Telenor Group CEO Jon Fredrik Baksaas had said.
Uninor also has said that it will deploy an additional 5,000 telecom sites in the six circles it has operations within the next five months. After the expansion, it would have about 24,000 sites in the six operating circles. “With this expansion Uninor will now extend its ‘Sabse Sasta’ services to millions of new subscribers in its six circles even as we strengthen our network in the areas we already cover,” said Morten Karlsen Sorby, nominated CEO of Uninor, in a statement.
