Having already reached out to about 15,000 of its dealers in Gujarat, Uninor, a joint venture between Norwegian telecom major Telenor and Unitech Ltd., is targeting in all 24,000 one-on-one dealer meets. Launched in Gujarat as part of one of its strategic marketing plans to increase its market share in the 11 operators strong circle, the dealer meet campaign involves one-on-one meetings and training workshops for dealers.

"We realised that while our '24x7 Badalta Discount' plan has been accepted quite well by subscribers in Gujarat, it has only happened once the plan has been understood well. In order to increase such an understanding at point-of-sales level, we have taken up one-on-one meetings with our dealers and will reach out to about 24,000 of them in Gujarat," said Olav Sande, Mumbai Hub EVP, Uninor.

Apart from one-on-one meetings, the telecom operator is also trying its hands at other innovative marketing initiative including 'LED on Wheels'.

"A Uninor branded vehicle with an LED has been flagged off with an objective to reach out to customers and create deeper brand awareness and visibility. The 'LED on Wheels' initiative is being rolled out with the vision to take the brand to the customer across all the major cities of Gujarat and acquaint customers about Uninor's Dynamic Plan, enhance brand visibility across the region besides raising the bar for outdoor advertising in Gujarat. This innovative branding will be stationed for a week in all high footfall areas across Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot," Sande added.

A 17’x 10’ LED screen is mounted on a hydraulic vehicle and can go up to almost 10ft height and can be rotated 360 degrees to suit the needs of head-on display. "Gujarat is an important market for us and we aim to bring ourselves closer to the customers by ensuring high brand recall and easy association, in this highly cluttered market. Also we are committed to innovation and the through such outdoor initiatives we are not only setting new benchmarks," he said.

Uninor is joint venture between India’s second largest diversified real estate major Unitech Ltd. and the Norway based world’s 6th largest mobile services provider Telenor Group.
