The company runs around three distilleries in the eastern region at present. USL is also planning to set up two-three bottling plants in Kolkata and the North East within the next six months.
At present, the company operates around 25 plants in the eastern region, which includes both bottling and distillery units, out of it owns about five units.
The new plant would cater to the eastern market, with raw materials in the form of rice and other grains procured locally, he said.
USL is also bullish on its recently announced retail venture, as it plans to open about three to four designer liquor stores this year in the region. Currently, the company operates around 16 such outlets across the country, with around four in the east.
Nationally, USL produced around 73 million cases of spirits last year, out of which the share of the east was 9 million cases, he said.

In the east, the company has been witnessing a growth of 19 per cent over the last two years in terms of market share.
On the occasion of the 125th anniversary of launch of its scotch brand Black Dog, USL has roped in Stephen Kabakos, an Elvis tribute artist, who will perform in nine cities across India. USL is aiming to increase the market share of the brand by 10-15 per cent through such concerts in the coming months.
At present, Black Dog premium 12 year old scotch has a market share of 40 per cent and 10 per cent share in the emerging regular scotch market with Black Dog 8 year old.
