Aiming to become world's largest liquor maker, Vijaya Mallya-promoted United Spirits said it is targeting a sale of 100 million cases per annum in the next two years.
"The company is targeting a sale of 100 million cases in the next couple of years while continuing its drive towards premiumization of the portfolio to cater to emerging consumer demands," United Spirits (USL) President and Managing Director Vijay Rekhi said.
At present United spirits is the second largest spirits maker in the world with a sale of 73 million cases per annum and the number one position is being held by global major Diageo, with a sale of around 105 million cases per annum.
"United Spirits recorded a landmark sale of over 73 million cases during the last fiscal narrowing the gap to No 1 position in the global spirits market," Rekhi added.
The company would leverage on its existing 67 units located across the country to achieve the target while it is also looking for acquiring more distilleries.
"Company will explore all avenues to meet the capacity requirements including expansion of current units. Acquisition of new ones will happen should the opportunity arise and contracting fresh capacity," Rekhi said while declining to give further details on its plan to acquire more distilleries.

USL is banking on the sale of premium brands in the country to push the volumes in the domestic market besides increasing its capacity.
The company, which has over 150 brands in its portfolio, of which 17 brands have sale of more than a million cases annually.
The company has taken a number of steps including extensions of the current brands besides ramping up its distribution network.
