Urban Ladder raises $50 million

Urban Ladder has attracted $27 million from Kalaari Capital, SAIF Partners and Steadview Capital in the past three years

Urban Ladder, the online furniture and home decor company, has raised $50 million in a new round of funding. Sequoia Capital led the round with TR Capital, while existing investors Steadview Capital, SAIF Partners and Kalaari Capital also participated. Urban Ladder has attracted $27 million from Kalaari Capital, SAIF Partners and Steadview Capital in the past three years. Ratan Tata, chairman emeritus, Tata Group, made a personal investment in the company in November 2014.

MobiKwik raises $25 million

Gurgaon-based One MobiKwik Systems, which runs mobile wallet venture MobiKwik, has raised $25 million ( Rs 150 crore) in Series-B funding, led by Tree Line Asia. Cisco Investments, American Express and existing investor Sequoia Capital also participated.

Helion backs Whatfix

Whatfix, a SaaS (software as a service) platform that allows users and businesses to create interactive help guides on websites, has raised Rs 5.5 crore in seed-stage funding, led by Helion Venture Partners. Powerhouse Ventures, GSF and angel investors from the Silicon Valley also participated. The funding will be used to strengthen technology, and to scale sales and marketing efforts.

Matrix backs Purple Squirrel

Matrix Partners India has invested an undisclosed amount into Purple Squirrel Eduventures, a unique and innovative idea that connects students with business partners for field visits, workshops and hands on practical experiences. SINE, IIT Bombay incubated start-up, facilitates industry visits, workshops and hands-on trainings for students from all streams.

Indulge Beverages raises $2 mn

Delhi-based Indulge Beverages, which sells tea and coffee 'capsules' under the Bonhomia brand, has raised $2 million (Rs 12.5 crore) from a group of angel investors led by Helion Venture Partners co-founder Kanwaljit Singh. The start-up plans to launch 8-12 blends. Indulge says it sources coffee from estates in South India and roasts, grounds and encapsulates these in less than 24 hours.
