US-based company Transitions Optical, manufacturer of plastic photochromic lenses, today announced a strategic focus on the Punjab market.

Speaking to Business Standard, Satyapal Unnikrishnan, marketing manager of the company, said while consumers were increasingly becoming health-conscious, there was less awareness of eye-care.

"Eye-care is still seen as the need for vision correction. The focus is on vision quantity--the power of the lens. But equal emphasis needs to be on vision quality because normal eye testing is done in a controlled atmosphere. But, the spectacles-wearer faces a different situation the moment he steps out of the vision-testing room," he added.

He also unfolded a plan to work with the eye-care community in Punjab.

To coincide with the strategic focus on Punjab, Transitions Optical brought the 'The eye didn't know that' exhibition to the city. This interactive exhibition began in India six months ago.
