USV in marketing pact with German firm

Mumbai-based Rs 670-crore pharma major USV has forged a five-year alliance with German derma-cosmeceutical products company Sebapharma GmbH to exclusively market and distribute the latter's Sebamed range of skincare products in India.

The Sebamed range of 18 includes products for skin cleansing and care, acne and acne-prone skin, anti-ageing and baby care.

"Sebamed will be targeted at the premium segment in the skincare category. The skincare product market in India is around Rs 2,100 core and is growing at around 16% year-on-year. We expect to see a business of Rs 3 crore from the Sebamed range in the first year of launch," Prashant Tewari, MD, USV said here on Sunday.

Sebamed is the market leader for scientific skincare and body cleansing products in Germany and is sold in over 85 countries.
