VA Tech bags Rs 170-crore order from Oman's Majis

VA Tech Wabag Ltd, a water and waste water management firm, has bagged a Rs 170-crore order from Oman-based Majis Industrial Services SAOC. The company has formed a 60:40 joint venture with Nargarjuna exclusively for the project.

The order envisages construction of a sea water desalination plant in the Sohar Industrial area, Oman, from January 2011. The project is expected to complete in 20 months. With the new order, the consolidated order backlog of the company has reached over Rs 3,300 crore.

The scope of the project includes design, engineering, construction, installation and start-up of the sea water desalination plant, which will be followed by operation and maintenance, a company release said.

 

Majis, owned by the Government of Oman, provides various water utility services at Sohar Industrial Port including chlorinated sea water for industrial cooling applications, process water and potable water.
