Vedanta Resources appoints new CEO

Steel and mining major Vedanta Resources has appointed Mahendra S Mehta, currently the chief executive of  its group company Hindustan Zinc, as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

He will replace the current CEO, Kuldip K Kaura, who will retire on completion of his term on 30 September 2008, as per a press release issued by the company.

Mehta, who joined the Vendanta Group company Sterlite in 2000, worked in the management team of Sterlite's copper business and as head of group Marketing.
