Mumbai-based Veer Energy and Infrastructure Ltd. is planning to set up Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) farms of 200 MW capacity in Gujarat. The cost of setting up the project is likely to be about Rs 1,000-1,200 crore, according to industry sources. The company has also invited bids from wind energy generators for the project.
Sources said that the project includes wind farm development which entails acquisition of land, foundation work, and install-erect-commission of wind turbines, among other things. Moreover, Veer Energy and Infrastructure Ltd. is also planning to set up its own 200 MW sub station for the wind farm.
Veer Energy and Infrastructure Ltd., which boasts of clients like Southern Windfarms, a subsidiary of Reliance ADAG, and Elecon Engineering Company Ltd., has successfully launched a sub station at Bhachau in Kutch district of Gujarat. The company mostly supplies to Southern Windfarms, sources added.
Beginning with this 200 MW WTG farm project, Veer Energy, a vertically integrated wind turbine energy infrastructure developer, intends to more than double its profits for the financial year end 2009-10. The company has also started wind turbine infrastructure work at Tamil Nadu.
"Our vision is to be among the top most wind turbine energy developer company in the country and to be the fastest growing and most profitable business," said Yogesh Shah, managing director of Veer Energy and Infrastructure Ltd.
Meanwhile, state run-oil and gas major, Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) has also begun spadework to tap renewable sources of energy by foraying into wind energy in a big way. The company is aiming to set up 200 MW of WTG.
