Bangalore based brand consulting firm, Vertebrand, was looking to enter the Eastern Indian market as it hoped that it had fairly strong regional brands that were looking at creating a national presence.

There were large family owned businesses in the East that were keen on a brand-building exercise, said Anustup Datta, partner and member, management committee, Vertebrand.

It was in talks with a few in the apparel and leather footwear and accessories sector and are also looking at opening an office in Kolkata.

It had already worked with family owned businesses nationally like TVS Tyres and Nilgiri Group and helped regional businesses like MTR, a ready-to-eat food brand, to register a national presence.

Hewlett Packard, Titan and Timex brands of Tata, Hindustan Unilever, Glaxo Smithkline were among its clients.

Vertebrand would focus mainly on two segments, family owned businesses and business-to-business (B2B) as the growth drivers as against their national pattern of large corporate clients.
