Diversified company Videocon Industries today posted a 23.3% increase in its net profit to Rs 162.36 crore in the quarter ended December 31, 2010, over the same period last fiscal.
The company had a net profit of Rs 131.67 crore in the quarter ended December 31, 2009, Videocon Industries said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
During the quarter under review, Videocon had a sales of Rs 3,151.17 crore, a 12.27% rise from Rs 2,806.56 crore recorded in the year-ago period.
While revenue from consumer electronics and home appliances stood at Rs 2,852.43 crore, its crude and natural gas business generated a revenue of Rs 298.74 crore during the quarter.
The company's raw material consumption increased by 12.3% to Rs 1,046.01 crore from Rs 931.40 crore spent in the corresponding quarter last fiscal.
Besides, the firm's employee cost increased by 46.42% to Rs 52.26 crore from Rs 35.69 crore in the year-ago period.
