Videocon eyes Rs 1,000 cr revenues from power backup biz

Consumer durable major Videocon today announced its entry into the power backup equipment space with the launch of a range of devices, and expects to clock revenues of Rs 1,000 crore by 2011.

"Videocon has decided to venture into this new line of business after achieving consistent brand recognition among its target users and maintaining a good equity in the market amongst its competitors," the company said in a statement.

With this new venture, the company aims to reach a revenue of Rs 500 crore by next year and further it to Rs 1,000 crore by 2011, it added.

"The product will be available in three variants (600VA, 800VA and 1400VA) and will be available in the price range of Rs 4,990 to Rs 11,990," Videocon Vice-President (Refrigerator and NHA) C M Singh said.

 

The company has also introduced batteries in the market, he added.

Videocon is a $4-billion company present in diverse areas like glass shells, picture tubes, consumer electronics, home appliances and oil refining.
