Videocon Industries has identified 3,000 acre at Barabani in Bardhaman district for its 3 million tonne per annum integrated steel project and the 1,200 MW power project in West Bengal. "Videocon Industries has floated a special purpose vehicle with a US partner for the steel and power project in West Bengal to be set up with an investment of Rs 15,000 crore," Venugopal Dhoot, chairman, Videocon Group said. Dhoot, who refused to name the US partner, clarified that Videocon will have no difficulty in land acquisition for the project. West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, who was present on the occasion, said production from the Videocon's steel and power projects is expected to start within four years. |
