The Videocon Group is contemplating setting up a semiconductor facility at an investment upwards of Rs 1,000 crore. The company is currently in the process of evaluating various locations such as West Bengal.

"We have already signed an non-disclosure agreement (NDA) with the world's largest technology patent company for technology partnership. At present, we are looking at opportunities in West Bengal as it is promising better subsidies and infrastructure," Venugopal Dhoot, chairman, Videocon said today, while declining to disclose the name of the company that it had signed the NDA with.

"However, we may consider Andhra Pradesh or any other state if they dole out even more favourable incentives and sops," he added.

Besides, the company is constructing a 20-acre IT park adjoining its Rs 200-crore state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in the Hardware Technology Park on the outskirts of Hyderabad. "The IT park, which will have a built-up area 1 billion square feet, involves an investment of Rs 50 crore. We have just started the construction work and the project is expected to be completed in two years," said Dhoot.
