Consumer durables firm Videocon today said it would invest up to Rs 200 crore on marketing this fiscal, with special focus on reaching rural markets and expanding product portfolio across categories.

Videocon has lined up new products in LCD TVs, frost-free refrigerators and automatic washing machines, besides plans to increase the number of exclusive stores 11-fold to around 100.

"We will invest Rs 150-200 crore this year on our marketing activities. We have a lot of activities lined up this fiscal. Our focus will be on the rural market as we feel it has not been affected by the slowdown," Videocon Chief Marketing Officer Jaideep Rathore told PTI.

On the products side, the company, which saw its profits plunge by 71 per cent in the last fiscal, said it has lined up around 18 models of LCDs, 17 models of refrigerators and nine automatic washing machines.

Rathore said that most of the planned exclusive retail stores would be set up at the regional level aimed at reaching rural markets.

"We are taking our number of 'Digi World' outlets to around 100 this year from our existing nine. We want to penetrate into the smaller towns. So we would be opening these outlets in Class B and C cities like Ghaziabad, Chandigarh and Jalandhar," Rathore added.
