Vij moves to Europe, Chaba to take charge at GMI

General Motors (GM) Asia-Pacific today announced the appointment of Rajeev Chaba, chief operating officer, as president and managing director of General Motors India (GMI) w.e.f June 1 in place of Aditya Vij who has been promoted and posted in GM's Europe unit.

Vij, who will be based in Stockholm, will have overall responsibility of managing GM business in the Scandinavian markets including the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland, an official release said today.

Vij, who directed the successful launch of Chevrolet in the country, began his career at GM 14 years ago, and was appointed president and managing director of GMI in August 2000.

Chaba has been serving as chief operating officer since September 2003.
