This is not the first time Vijay Mallya got arrested.

Thirty-two years ago, the so-called King of Good Times was picked up for allegedly violating the draconian Foreign Exchange Regulation Act (FERA). On June 5, 1985, he was picked up at the Bangalore airport, while returning from Calcutta (now Kolkata).

Unlike Tuesday, when he was granted bail in three hours after being picked up by the Scotland Yard in London, then 30-year-old Mallya had to spend the entire night at the police commissioner’s office on Infantry Road.
