Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) to develop a new stockyard here near Ukkunagaram township and augment its facilities at Hyderabad stockyard. The Ukkunagaram project would cost Rs 16.93 crore while the Hyderabad one is estimated at Rs 7.83 crore.

SK Polouse, executive director (projects) of VSP and GC Kavi, superintendent engineer, CPWD-Hyderabad, exchanged the MoU documents here.

Speaking on the occasion, AP Choudhary, director (projects), VSP, expressed hope that the CPWD would complete the awarded jobs within the stipulated time and cost.

The new facility benefits the customers to lift the material from the new stockyard instead of getting from inside the plant, thereby restricting movement of heavy vehicles into the plant premises.

Work on the projects at Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad is expected to be completed in 15 months and nine months respectively.
