Rashtriya Ispat Nigam (RINL), the holding company of Vishakhapatnam Steel plant (VSP), is planning to hike production capacity of VSP to 16 million tonne by 2020. RINL is now planning greenfield units in Orissa and Chhattisgarh for iron ore. Lack of captive iron ore mine has been a major concern for RINL. The detailed project report of VSP envisages supply of total iron ore requirement from National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC). However NMDC sells at the international market price, which will affect RINL's bottomline. |
