Vodafone Idea (Vi) has launched new postpaid plans with enhanced data and additional benefits. The offering comes in the backdrop of rival firm Bharti Airtel gaining 300,000 postpaid customers in the September quarter and taking a 'decisive leadership' in the segment.
On Wednesday, Vi announced the launch of Vi Max, a new postpaid plan that will offer customers additional data and SMSes per month and benefits such as travel discounts, airport lounge access, and priority customer service, among others.
“We have constantly innovated and redefined the components of our offerings in line with changing user needs and aspirations. By strengthening our postpaid portfolio with Vi Max, we aim to attract high-ARPU (average revenue per user) postpaid users to the 5G-ready Vi network, by offering them more power, value and convenience,” Vi chief marketing officer Avneesh Khosla said in a statement.

The new plans, which came into effect on Wednesday, are available for all existing and new postpaid users. Vi users can also set their own credit limits via the Vi app, which will give them much more control over their monthly spends, it said.
Vi has been losing customers for the past several quarters. Its 4G customer growth and ARPU increase too lags the competition. The company is yet to report its second quarter results. Vi lost 3.4 million customers in the June quarter, and its user count stood at 240.4 million.
