Telecom giant Vodafone India has revamped its top management, appointing Sunil Sood as the new chief operating officer (COO), while Sanjoy Mukherjee has taken over as the chief commercial officer (CCO).

In an internal communication, the company said the changes are aimed at striking "a better balance between operational intensity and the need to focus on emerging areas".

"It will allow for better opportunities for our teams to take on larger roles and prepare ourselves for the future," Vodafone India MD and CEO Marten Pieters said.

Vodafone India, which has over 148 million users at the end of January this year, is also working on bringing out its initial public offer (IPO).

"I have asked Samaresh Parida to focus from now on more on the preparation for the IPO. In addition, he will also continue to head Corporate Communication & corporate responsibility. He will also anchor the relationship with the Vodafone Foundation," Pieters said.

The company has also introduced a new structure under which four directors would be responsible for each zone —- North, East, West and South.

Rajiv Kohli would take charge of the North, Sanjay Warke for East, Rohit Adya for West and BP Singh for South. The four directors will report to Sood, who will ultimately head all operations, the internal communique said.

The current chief marketing officer Kumar Ramanathan has decided to move on to the Africa, West Asia and Asia Pacific region and will continue to work closely with the group  commercial functions.
