Vodafone launches 4G services in Kochi

Had announced the launch in late August this year when Bharti Airtel rolled out high speed network

Vodafone India, second largest telecom operator after Airtel, today launched its fourth generation (4G) network services in Kochi and said it would soon roll out the mobile broadband network in Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata and Delhi.

The company had announced launching 4G services in late August this year, the same month when Airtel rolled out the high speed network in circles where it has the required spectrum. Vodafone has plans to start the service in the five key locations in first phase starting this month.

"Testing of 4G services in these locations has already commenced successfully and Vodafone has partnered with leading global technology service providers for the network roll-out," the firm said in a statement.

 

Like Airtel, Vodafone is offering free 4G SIM card and will offer door-step delivery of the SIM cards. But while Airtel offers its customers to download music for free, Vodafone allows only free music streaming from Vodafone music. It has also tied up with Hungama Play to watch unlimited movie for a period of three months.

The internet packs are available from Rs 29 for 120 MB of 4G data to Rs 2,499 for 20 GB data. For a 15 GB 4G data of Airtel, consumers need pay Rs 2,999 a month. Initially, Vodafone will offer double the data pack offered by its postpaid customers.

The company also announced launch of a 4G hotspot device today, which can support upto 10 device to offer internet via wi-fi technology.
