VSNL net plunges to Rs 9.52 cr in Q3

Tata Group company Videsh Sanchar Nigam (VSNL) today posted a nearly 15-fold decrease in net profit at Rs 9.52 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2007, compared with Rs 142.28 crore during the comparable period a year ago.

The Tata group company's total income increased marginally to Rs 1,113.52 crore for the quarter under review as against Rs 1,112.25 crore recorded during the third quarter of the previous financial year, the company informed the BSE. Shares of VSNL closed at Rs 526, down 5.21 per cent on the BSE.
