Visakhapatnam Steel Plant has become the first steel plant in the country to be accredited with BS EN: 16001:2009 for excellence in energy management.
VSP has been implemented BS EN: 16001:2009 energy management system in works department since July 2010. VSP is already accredited with ISO 9001: 2008 for quality management; ISO 14001:2004 for environment management and OHSAS 18001:2007 for occupational health and safety management system, a release said.
The implementation of the system would further benefit the steel plant in terms of reduced energy consumption, reduced green house gas emissions and reduced cost, the press release added.
