US-based Wal-Mart has selected Kolkata's Asian Leather (ALL) as the International supplier of the year 2005 in the leather products category globally for supplying best-quality merchandise backed by on-time shipment and day-to-day support to Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart recognised ALL at its global supplier award event in Shenzhen, China where the award was presented to Nari Kalwani, managing director of ALL and director Divya Kalwani by top officials of Wal-Mart Inc. The Wal-Mart-ALL relationship started a little over two years ago. Kalwani said the president and CEO of Wal-Mart USA and other global suppliers were present at the ceremony where Anddrew Tsuei, senior vice-president and managing director of Wal-Mart global procurement, said: "Your (ALL) recognition may be attributed to the quality of your merchandise, on-time shipment and your day-to-day support to Wal-Mart in growing our business this past year. I would like to thank each one of you for your contribution, support and valued partnership, which have enabled Wal-Mart to become the world's largest retailer. Your efforts and dedication this past year have provided us the opportunity to serve more than 100 million customers per week with a wide variety of high quality merchandise at a great Every Day Low Price (EDLP)." ALL was also asked by Kenny Chen, director of administration, global procurement of Wal-Mart, to attend a 30-minute one-on-one meeting with Wal-Mart's senior leadership directly involved in its business. "Please be prepared to discuss during the meeting, opportunities, challenges and how we can work more closely to strengthen our partnership and cultivate our business together. In addition, please also prepare to share any suggestions on how we can together strive for excellence," Chen said. |
