Walmart Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Latin America, India and Africa Enrique Ostale is on a three-day visit of the country to take stock of the business and meet the leadership team.

“During the three-day visit, he and Walmart India CEO Krish Iyer visited our stores in Zirakpur and Lucknow, and met with the Walmart India leadership team and associates to discuss the India business and appreciated the progress the team is making,” said Rajneesh Kumar, senior vice-president and head, corporate affairs, Walmart India.

In February this year, as part of the retail major’s restructuring plan, Walmart Stores Inc decided to align Indian operations with its other emerging-markets portfolio.

Ostale was made the executive vice-president and CEO. This was in addition to his role as president and CEO, Mexico, Central America and Latin America.

The company opened one store this year after a gap of more than two years to take its store count to 21 in the country.
