WB govt starts fencing land for Tata Motors project

The West Bengal government today began erecting posts for barbed wire fencing to demarcate land for the Tata Motors small car project.

M V Rao, director of industries, and Vinod Kumar, District Magistrate of Hugli, were present at the location.

A district official said the work would be completed in three days. "The posts were being erected at Joymolla village in Singur, which falls within the land for the Tata project," the official said.

Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee had, yesterday, announced that the land would be handed over to Tata Motors within a few days.
