Welspun-Gujarat Stahl Rohren has bagged an order worth Rs 301.5 crore from Stroy Transgas, the engineering, procurment and construction (EPC) contractor of Sonatrach Algeria. According to a release issued by Welspun-Gujarat to the BSE today, the order includes supply of 3LPE coated on-shore pipelines with outside diameter of 42" and wall thickness of 14.3 mm for 163 km for the Gazoduc Sougueur Hadjree Ennous project in Algeria. The supply will be completed between Feb-July 2006. "The order is in continuation to another order of Rs 500 crore the company received from PGN, Indonesia a fortnight ago. The company now enjoys an order-book position of over Rs 2,200 crore," the release added. B K Goenka, vice chairman & managing director, said: "The maiden foray into the Algerian gas grid is a testimony of the relationship Welspun enjoys in the world market. The orders have further strengthened Welspun's commitment to pursue excellence in catering to niche makers. The Algerian order is of strategic importance since Northern Africa is a gas hub for supplying gas to the European markets, and since Algeria has proposals for laying more than 2,000 kms of pipelines in the next few years." |
