One of the oldest television-manufacturing companies in India, Weston TV Group, is set to achieve 50 per cent growth in its business, with increasing demand for its products in the European market. |
Group Chairman-cum-Managing Director Sunil Vachani, who was here today for the launch of the company's colour TV products and DVD players in Jammu & Kashmir, told Business Standard the company, having a turnover of Rs 400 crore, is set for a resurgence. The company, which launched its first colour TV in 1983, still enjoys the confidence of consumers. |
Vachani said the company sold 300,000 CTV sets in the European market in just the past two years and was expecting a 5-7 per cent hike in the export of CTV sets and DVD players. The company sold most of its products in Germany, France and England last year and was expecting to tap more Middle East countries this year, he added. |
Vachani said demand for the company products was high in Europe and in order to meet this demand, the Group had planned to establish more manufacturing units. |
He said last year's business of the company, in the European market, was of Rs 20 crore. The company is investing Rs 10 crore in Tamil Nadu to establish its new manufacturing unit at Chennai and will start operation shortly. |
The aim is to increase the market share in southern India. At present, the company has three units in Uttaranchal, two in Noida and one each in Chandigarh and Jammu. "The company is operating via a network of around 1,700 outlets in the country, Vachani said. |
Vachani said Weston opened its new branches at Guwahati, Bhubaneshwar, Ranchi, Chennai, Bangalore, Cochin and Ahmedabad. |
