Software major, Wipro will employ around 4,000 employees in the new financial year. |
Azim Premji, who was in the city today said that the company would recruit 3,000-4,000 people across its offices. The company would be visiting over 160 campuses for the purpose of recruitment. |
The mix of prospective candidates would not be just restricted to software professionals. Premji said, "We have a large mix of people in our organisation." |
Premji was speaking at a Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) meet, "Shaping you destiny". |
Earlier in the day, Premji said that the company would be employing around 4,500 people in Kolkata, in phases. The company was drafting the blueprint for its third facility. Premji met the chief minister, Buddhadeb Bhattacharya and toured the state information technology (IT) department. |
Wipro had been allotted land for its second facility. Premji said, "We have earmarked an investment of Rs 75 crore for our projects in the state. Besides a call centre, we are also planning to set up a technology centre here." |
Emerging from the meeting, Bhattacharya said that the company, already working on its first project at Salt Lake, has decided to take up a new venture at Rajarhat on the eastern fringes of the metropolis. |
Wipro had completed work on 12 acres at Salt Lake and would be given another five acre. The third phase would come up at the new IT hub in Rajarhat. |
Wipro was also understood to have evinced some interest in the education sector as well as telemedicine. |
