Wipro ups Eco-eye programme

Wipro Limited, which recently got Greenpeace certification for effective disposal of e-waste is expanding its Eco-eye programme which works for the cause of ecological sustainability.

The company which is India’s third largest software services exporter, is rolling out a series of awareness programmes on rain water harvesting, how to reduce individual carbon footprint, how to make recycle paper and paper bags, case study and discussion on cleaning up of lakes, case study on green initiatives adopted by one of the offshore development centres at Wipro and ecological awareness programme by WWF students. Plastic collective drive, spreading awareness about seed ball technology, planting saplings, painting competition and slogan writing on large canvas organized by GreenPeace are some of the other initiatives, which is being initiated as part of World Environment Day today.

 

“Occasions like World Environment Day provide us an opportunity to learn and share best practices. It encourages our employees to present their ideas, explore new trends and interact with experts. It presents a perfect platform to exchange ideas, and innovate together,” said Ram Ramakrishnan, general manager - facilities management, Wipro.

According to Ramakrishna, the activities lined up are an attempt to inspire employees and motivate them to do their bit for ecology.

Wipro is inviting all its employees across campuses to try a ride on the Wipro bus and show they care to reduce carbon footprints. Wiproites are also encouraged to share how they have adopted green way of living.
