Wipro Ventures, the investment arm of Wipro Ltd, has invested in two Silicon Valley based technology firms, Vicarious and Talena, for an undisclosed sum.

Vicarious is an artificial intelligence company that has investments from Facebook's chief executive Mark Zuckerberg, Amazon's Jeff Bezos and Tesla's Elon Musk.

Talena is a data management firm that has expertise in deep storage and big data experience. It is working on the next-generation data management platform.

Rishad Premji, a director of Wipro and elder son of Azim Premji, Wipro's billionaire chairman, runs the $100 million fund that invests in technology startups globally. Venu Pemmaraju, former senior investment manager at Intel Capital and Biplab Adhya also manage the $100 million fund.

The venture firm, started in 2014, invested $5 million early this year in US-based Drivestream, a firm that specialises in building solutions on Oracle Cloud.
