Wockhardt Hospitals, which opened its second hospital in Bangalore on Bannerghatta road, is positioning it as a national paediatric cardiology and cardiac surgery centre. |
This paediatric centre has been set up with a budget of Rs 15 crore and has 75 beds to start operations and has provision to scale up to 125-beds in short time, said Vishal Bali, CEO, Wockhardt Hospitals Group. |
The Rs 150-crore second superspeciality hospital, in addition to paediatric care, will also house and offer services in orthopaedics, neurology-neurosurgery and women's health. |
"Bangalore has a large population of working women and our new unit will also focus on women's health. An entire floor providing comprehensive healthcare backed by birthing centre with suites and neonatology section has been set up to cater to this segment," said Vishal Bali. |
The hospital has reserved one floor for general cardiology and cardiac surgeries and has capacity to conduct 4,000 surgeries in a year, he added. Wockhardt Hospitals, after strengthening its team of doctors in Bangalore, now has 20 cardiologists and cardiac surgeons, and nearly 60 heart specialists at its hospitals in other cities. |
According to Vishal Bali: "A larger full-time team of cardiologists ensures that proper medical attention is available to patients all the time. Wockhardt has strengthened its existing team to 10 full-time cardiologists and four leading cardiac surgeons including eminent names in the industry." |
The group's first hospital in Bangalore on Cunningham Road, which has been in operation for the last 17 years, will continue handling patients from city centre and Bangalore north. |
The group will continue to conduct cardiological and cardiac surgeries at its eight hospitals in the country. |
