Wonder Leisure opens mall

Wonder Leisure & Entertainment Pvt Ltd has opened Wonder Funkey "" a family entertainment mall - the first-ever in the state.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Satish Mittal, managing director of Wonder Leisure, said the 55,000 square feet mall, spread over three floors, offers a choice to families who want to enjoy their weekends or free time together.

Wonder Funkey, set up with an initial investment of Rs 15 crore, will have video games consoles, sound and light amusements, bowling alley and simulators.

"We have developed this leisure and entertainment business to tap the opportunities that exist in the greenfield area of leisure destinations. We would like people to get value for their families at places that have the required technology, enterprise and innovation," Mittal said.

Indraneel Majumdar, vice-president, Wonder Leisure, said the company would open at least one more Wonder Funkey in Pune or in the surrounding areas. In addition to the games and entertainment options, the mall has a restaurant, theme eateries, banquet halls and conference rooms.

The company will also look at the possibilities of cross-selling with other players in the entertainment business. It has tied up with Yahoo! India for a contest, 'Masti idols of Pune', and is in talks with MTV for the purpose, director Manoj Agarwal said.

The business model entails a cover charge of Rs 100 per person entering the mall, Majumdar said.
