Work at the Tata Motors plant here has been affected for the second day as temporary workers staged protest demanding adequate compensation to the family members of an employee who was crushed to death in the plant.

The production in the assembly line of the truck division has been stalled since last evening as the employees jammed the main gate in support of their demands, company sources said.

The protesting workers reportedly did not allow the permanent employees to enter the factory.

The district administration has deployed adequate police force to maintain law and order in and around the company premises.

Company officials said the on-going agitation has resulted in production loss. Around 250 vehicles are assembled in the plant per day, they added.
