The workers employed by contractors at Hero Honda's Dharuhera plant are all set to get a wage increase and other amenities on par with what their counterparts in the company's other plant in Gurgaon. |
The union leader of permanent workers at the Dharuhera plant, Kamal Sharma told Business Standard that the Dharuhera plant's management has already been sounded out and the management has agreed to consider such a proposal. |
If the demand of the Dharuhera plant is also met, the cost to the company on the wages alone will increase by Rs 3-4 crore annually. Apart from this the company will consider benefits like compensatory leave and medical facilities, said union sources. |
A Hero Honda spokesperson said that all proposals were under consideration and no decision has been taken as yet. Union said that the company as a policy, normally does not discriminate between the two plants, hence its demand for an even treatment was in line with what the management would implement on its own. |
The workers employed by contractors at the Gurgaon plant had gone on a week-long strike which ended on Friday last week. |
The 2000-odd workers of contractors went back to resume production on Saturday on the management's commitment to look into their demands favourably. |
Though regularisation of contract workers met with some resistance from the management, the workers caved in for a 30 per cent hike in wages. |
