Discarding the paperless office concept as a myth, Xerox India has rolled out its Xerox Global Services (XGS) consulting line of business for integrated document management services, in Maharashtra.

According to an IDC estimate, executives spend 45% of their working with documents, whereas companies spend about 10% of their revenues on document production management and distribution.

"Documents consume approximately 50% of IT budgets and this presents a tremendous opportunity for us...Implementing our end-to-end solutions will assure companies saving of 15-30% over a 60-month period," Ravi Venkatraman, director, XGS, said.

Claiming to be the only player, globally offering end-to-end services like business process service, Xerox office services, document outsourcing and communication services and free flow web services on a pay-per-usage model, Xerox currently has 70 clients in India.

With global clients like Nokia, Convergys, Standard Chartered, the company has aggressive plans to capture the Indian market. Earlier this year, the Karnataka High Court started implementing parts of its document management services solution. "We are targetting the judiciary, healthcare and agriculture segments besides the banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) and telecom sectors," Venkatraman said.

The company is focussed on 6 key hubs in the country, viz. - Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Pune.

"The Indian market is a $4.7 trillion documenets opportunity and is growing at 50% per annum," Venkatraman said.

He however refused to divulge his expectations and market share.
