In the face of slowdown, Yamaha India today said it was expanding its manufacturing facility in Greater Noida from five lakh units per annum to eight lakh units per annum by 2010.
"We are increasing our capacity from five lakh units to eight lakh units per annum to meet growing demand," Yamaha India Head (National Business) Pankaj Dubey told reporters here.
Earlier this year, Yamaha announced that it would be investing Rs 800 crore in its Indian operations over the next three years.
From January-October 2008, the company has sold 1,10,000 bikes. In the last calendar year, it sold 1,15,000 bikes, he said.
The company launched FZ16 bike two months ago. "The FZ16 has been successful with our customers. We have paid bookings for 20,000 FZ16," he said.
The company doesn't expect any slowdown in the sale of its bikes, priced between Rs 65,000 and Rs 10 lakh.
There would be no price cuts going ahead, he said, adding the company would not be launching any new models in this year.
He said the company is matching dealer-demand with retail demand and is not affected by the downturn. "We are not over-producing," he added.
