Zee Learn, the education division of media and entertainment giant Essel Group, will invest Rs 350 crore over the next five years for setting up 300 schools across India.
“Zee Learn will invest Rs 350 crore towards setting up 300 schools by 2013 covering 2.5 lakh students every year. The schools will focus on developing the potential of the child, which is unique in every child,” CEO Sumeet Mehta said.
Though the expansion would be funded through internal accruals and external funding, the final details were being worked on, he added. Essel Group is already running play schools under ‘KidZee’ brand and high schools under ‘Zee Schools’.
“We have about 25 schools which are already running under ‘Zee Schools’ brand name. These will be integrated under the current expansion plan and will begin their academic year from the next session,” Mehta said.
