Zee PAT zooms 132%

Subhash Chandra-promoted Zee Entertainment Enterprises (ZEEL), earlier called Zee Telefilms, today reported a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 79.37 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2006, about 132 per cent higher than the Rs 34.16 crore in the same quarter a year ago.
 
Total income in the reporting quarter stood at Rs 246.41 crore, compared with Rs 240.16 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2005.
 
These are the first quarterly results after the consolidation of the Zee group. It recently demerged Zee News, Wire & Wireless (India) and Dish TV from Zee Telefilms and renamed the flagship 'Zee Entertainment Enterprises'.
 
On a consolidated basis, the company shows a PAT of Rs 95.81 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2006, compared with Rs 33.55 crore for the previous corresponding quarter.
