Even as the low-cost tablet market in India is already over-crowded, two new tablets were launched on Friday in the sub Rs 11,000 category.
Zync Global, an indigenous tablet maker launched the company’s first 9.7 inch tablet upgradable to Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). The tablet which comes with a slim design supporting 5-point multi-touch capacity high definition display has been priced at Rs 10,900.
Among other things, the tablet has a front and rear camera, and a SIM card slot. With an onboard memory of 8 GB, the tablet is expandable upto 32 GB.
Mumbai-based computer hardware maker iBall has launched Slide 3G 7334, which is said to be the first dual-SIM tablet in the country. The tablet which has been priced at Rs 10,999 runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), and is powered by Cortex A9 1GHz processor. It also has a built-in FM transmitter.
According to analyst firm Frost & Sullivan, the tablet market in India is expected to reach 23.38 million units by 2017, with sales doubling every year starting 2011.
