Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh today termed Anna Hazare's campaign for the Jan Lok Pal Bill as "totally political" and alleged it has nothing to do with corruption.
"From day one, I have been saying Anna is not against corruption and he is not for Jan Lokpal. His intention is political," Singh told reporters.
He was replying to a question on Hazare's statement that his agitation for the Jan Lokpal Bill will continue despite the government introducing a Bill in Parliament in this regard.
"He (Anna) is surrounded by people who are opposed to the Congress party. So, therefore, this agitation and programme is totally political and I am again proved right," he said after a meeting with Home Minister P Chidambaram.
After the Bill was introduced in Lok Sabha yesterday, Hazare said in Ralegan Siddhi that the new Bill was "very weak and useless" and it will not help in tackling corruption.
Continuing his attack on the government, Hazare said he will go ahead with his three-day fast from December 27 in Mumbai and then leave for Delhi to join the 'jail bharo' agitation during which he will protest outside the residences of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
