There is a nexus between politicians and builders in approval of the draft development plan for Pune, senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde said here on Friday. Munde demanded a probe by the SIT on the matter, alleging that deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar had "colluded" in giving vacant plots in Pune to builders. Chief minister Prithviraj Chavan should grant an immediate stay to the plan, Munde said in a statement. The general body of the Pune Municipal Corporation approved the draft development plan for the old city areas in the early hours of Tuesday, after discussions lasting around 12 hours and speeches by 53 corporators. BJP and MNS corporators raised objections to the provisions made in the plan.
