At least 10 persons were injured in a group clash over the issue of sharing a seat in an auto at Sarai Rasulpur village in the district, police said on Monday.

A case has been registered against 18 people and eight were arrested for the clash under Mansurpur police station yesterday, SP (crime) Pradeep Gupta said.

The trouble started when students belonging to two communities clashed over sharing a seat in the auto. It soon turned violent with both sides calling their supporters and pelting each other with stones, the SP said.

Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
 
Security has been tightened and extra police force has been deployed in the village after the incident, the SP added.
