244 kgs of heroin seized at Indo-Pak border in 2014

Apart from fake currency worth of Rs 4 lakhs, 12 arms, 20 magazines and opium has also been confiscated from the border

Security forces have recovered 244 kilograms of heroin so far in 2014 from the international border in Punjab, an official said.

"We have seized 243.6 kgs of Heroin along with fake Indian currencies, arms and other drugs till now," Punjab DG for SSB Ajay Kumar Tomar said.

"The increase in smuggling can be gauged from the fact that 322 kgs of the drug was seized last year, whereas this year the figure has gone to 244 kgs in the first four months," he said.

Apart from fake currency worth of Rs 4 lakhs, 12 arms, 20 magazines and opium has also been confiscated from the border.
 
Three infiltrators and three smugglers have been killed, he said.

SSB has arrested 7 Pakistanis has for unknowingly crossing the border and were later handed over to Pakistan Rangers. Apart from these some Indian smugglers and and Bangladeshi citizens have also been arrested from the borders.
