3.68 lakh enrolled under PMSBY in state

Under PMSBY, the risk coverage will be Rs 2 lakh for accidental death and full disability and Rs 1 lakh for partial disability

As many as 368,504 persons have been enrolled under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) in the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the scheme at Kolkata on Saturday along with two other social security schemes - Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyothi Beema Yojana (PMJJBY) and Atal Pension Yojana (APY).

Under PMSBY, the risk coverage will be Rs two lakh for accidental death and full disability and Rs one lakh for partial disability. The scheme will be available to people in the age group of 18 to 70 years having bank accounts, from where the premium would be collected through "auto-debit" mode. The annual premium is Rs 12 per subscriber.
 
As per the latest data collated, out of the total enrolment, 282,509 are male and 85,046 are female. The scheme would be administered through public sector general insurance companies (PSGICs) and other general insurance companies willing to offer the product on similar terms on the choice of the bank concerned.

Similarly, the enrolment under PMJJBY in the state is 53,302. This scheme offers a renewable one year life cover of Rs 2 lakh to all savings bank account holders in the age group of 18-50 years, covering death due to any reason. The premium per subscriber under the scheme is Rs 330 annually. The premium would also be collected through "auto-debit" mode. The scheme will be offered or administered through LIC or other life insurance companies willing to offer the product on similar terms on the choice of the bank concerned. APY, on the other hand, ensures fixed monthly pension of Rs 1,000, Rs 2,000, Rs 3,000, Rs 4,000, Rs 5,000 to subscribers on attaining the age of 60 years, depending on their contributions, which itself would vary according to the age of joining the scheme. The minimum age of joining APY is 18 years and maximum age is 40 years. The minimum period of contribution by any subscriber under APY would be 20 years or more.

The three schemes will be launched in the state by Governor S C Jamir on Saturday. Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan and Usha Devi, minister for women and child development, will also attend the event.

"Besides the launch function at Kolkata, simultaneous launch functions of the schemes will be held at 116 locations in the Capital and other major centres of different states and district headquarters," read a PIB release.
